A 19-year-old Birmingham man is to face trial next year accused of murdering Bradford policewoman Sharon Beshenivsky.

Yusuf Abdillh Jamma appeared before a judge at Bradford Crown Court yesterday via a video link for a ten-minute hearing.

He is accused of murdering mother-of-three Pc Beshenivsky, aged 38, who was shot as she investigated a robbery at a travel agent's in Bradford city centre on November 18. Her colleague Pc Teresa Milburn, aged 37, was seriously injured.

Jamma, of Whitmore Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, who is also charged with robbery and firearms offences, spoke only to confirm his name and to indicate he understood the proceedings.

The Recorder of Bradford Judge Stephen Gullick told him a provisional trial date had been fixed for June 12 next year. Jamma was also told he was due to appear again before a court on March 22.
