A Birmingham man has been charged with public nuisance in relation to a string of indecent phone calls to primary schools, nurseries and dental practices across the country, police said.

The 55-year-old, from the Tile Cross area of Birmingham, was arrested on Sunday night in connection with the calls.

Northamptonshire Police, who did not name the man, said he had been charged, under common law, with public nuisance.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Northampton on Tuesday morning.
