Birmingham City have had their appeal against goalkeeper Maik Taylor's red card rejected by the Football Association, meaning he will miss Saturday's trip to Watford.

The experienced Blues number one was sent off midway through the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Plymouth when he upended Jamie Mackie for the penalty which handed the visitors the lead.

Television replays proved the incident occurred outside the area, while Taylor also insisted he touched the ball.

However, a regulatory commission examined the evidence and failed to identify a serious error of judgement by referee Michael Oliver.
