Birmingham City have slashed the price of tickets for Monday night’s big Coca Cola Championship derby with near-neighbours Coventry City as they attempt to get back to winning ways.

Blues’ manager Alex McLeish was furious with his side after they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers at a snowy Loftus Road on Tuesday. Their defeat to a Rangers’ side currently going through a period of transition following the sudden dearture of Iain Dowie frustrated McLeish as it came after his side’s emphatic 3-1 defeat of Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew’s last weekend.

Just over 17,000 fans turned out for that game which featured a brace of goals from Garry O’Connor and Kevin Phillips and Birmingham are hoping to tempt more support for their meeting with Chris Coleman’s Sky Blues.

Monday’s match kicks off at 7.45pm at St Andrew’s and has been designated a Grade C fixture. Tickets are on general sale priced at only £5 for under 12’s, £10 for concessions and £15 adults.

Tickets will be available on the day of the game but Blues have advised fans to purchase in advance to avoid queueing. The ticket office booking line is 0844 557 1875.

Meanwhile, Blues have allowed promising young striker Aaron Moses-Garvey out on loan. The Birmingham-born youngster, an international with Caribbean islands St Kitts and Nevis, will now get a taste of first-team football with Blue Square North Hinckley Town.

The 19-year-old has come though the youth ranks at Blues and through the academy system but signed a one-year professional deal in the summer.

Moses-Garvey will join up with the Leicestershire part-time outfit in time for their league match at Fleetwood United tomorrow. Hinckley are managed by Dean Thomas and assisted by former Blues midfielder Nicky Platnauer who was impressed with Moses-Garvey’s strength and development.
