Police have warned commuters a Birmingham city centre street where a 21-year-old man was stabbed is likely to remain closed for the rest of the day.
The 21-year-old victim was stabbed in the chest outside the Panama Bar, on Gas Street, off Broad Street, in the early hours of Monday morning.
The victim managed to make his way to hospital after the attack and is said to be in a “serious but stable” condition following surgery.
Detectives cordoned off the scene on Gas Street and are currently combing the scene for vital evidence.
Officers have also begun an intensive trawl of CCTV footage from nearby businesses in an effort to track the attacker.
Detective Sergeant Mick Ross, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a violent crime which requires meticulous investigation.
“We will be speaking to the victim shortly and I would urge anyone who may have witness the attack to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
