Dear Editor, I’m becoming more despondent over Birmingham Airport’s claims to be an “International” airport. On arriving there on Wednesday after a month away, I was horrified to see that they now charge for the trolleys! This is in addition to charging people to drop off and collect passengers with luggage.
Over the years, I have witnessed most international airports abandon the charge for trolleys because the passengers who arrive there have not got the correct monies to feed the machine and this creates havoc and disruption.
In addition to this, the staff were most unhelpful and seemed more content to stand with their hands in their pockets rather than help people with heavy luggage.
In fact in one case, an elderly man with heavy baggage was told he “couldn’t leave it on the floor, or it will be confiscated”. This after he was only going to get change.
No I’m afraid Birmingham Airport must improve its image if it wants to become “International” and not just a cash sucking cow.
Trolleys can cause delays.
