Victoria Square in Birmingham will come alive with the sounds and smells of the Caribbean next week when a new food festival comes to the city.
The Enco Products-sponsored First Caribbean Food Festival takes place on June 3 and 4 between 10am until 7pm and will offer visitors the chance to sample the authentic cuisine, sip rum cocktails and soak up the carnival atmosphere as stars from these tropical region perform traditional dance routines.
Soul diva Beverley Knight will be lending her support on Saturday together with Michelin starred Glynn Purnell. He’ll be sampling the wonderful dishes that restaurants from across Birmingham have to offer.
Denise Mickle, who is helping to promote the event, said: “We have the German Market in the winter, we want to create something for the summer and what says summer better than the Caribbean, great food, rum punch, music and dance will all be on offer, its going to be a fantastic couple of days and will pave the way for a bigger and better event next year to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence and the arrival of the Jamaican Olympic team in Birmingham”.
