Pertemps Bees will give fitness tests to key backs Adam Billig, Tom Beim and Dave Knight before they finalise their side for the National League One game against Bedford at Goldington Road on Saturday.

Former Leicester and Bedford centre Billig took a bang to the head in a collision with Cornish Pirates centre Duncan Roke during last Saturday's 36-24 defeat at Sharmans Cross Road. Both players had to be substituted.

Former England winger Beim, a summer recruit from Italian club Viadana, aggravated a groin injury in the closing minutes of the same game when he tried to stop Pirates flanker Chris Morgan scoring an injury-time try.

Full-back Knight hobbled off the pitch at the end of the Pirates match after suffering a calf strain.

All will have fitness checks during the week but Bees will definitely be without centre Simon Martin again because of a knee ligament injury and scrum-half Paul Knight, who is completing a six week suspension following his sending-off for stamping against London Welsh last month.

England Under-19 fly-half Ryan Lamb is also doubtful. He took a bang to the head playing for Gloucester in a Guinness A League game last week and was forced to withdraw from the bench against Cornish Pirates.

Lamb's absence meant that Pertemps Bees had to rush through the registration of former Coventry scrum-half Ben Williams, who made his debut as a trialist in last week's Wannabees game at Oxford University.

Flanker Tu Tamarua, who missed the Cornish Pirates game with a rib injury sustained at Exeter, will also a require a fitness check.
