Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has reiterated his belief that David Beckham will sign a contract extension.

Beckham, whose current deal runs out next summer, recently revealed his frustration at being used mainly as a substitute under new coach Fabio Capello.

The former England captain has started five of the last six games on the bench. However, Calderon is confident Beckham will remain and when asked if he thought the midfielder's contract would be renewed,

he said: "Yes, I think so. He is happy in the new house that has been built and with his children's school. His kids already speak Spanish." n Hearts head coach Valdas Ivanauskas is taking two weeks' leave for health reasons, but intends to return.

The Tynecastle boss was under pressure following Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Kilmarnock and met majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov in Lithuania yesterday. Sporting director Eduard Malofeev will assume the role until Ivanauskas returns.
