West Bromwich Albion’s Craig Beattie has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday.
Following the arrival of Aston Villa striker Luke Moore at the Hawthorns the Scotsman has effectively assumed the role of fifth-choice striker; and it has also been suggested that Albion are looking to trim their wage bill.
In contrast, the Owls have suffered injuries to their three main strikers – Francis Jeffers, Akpo Sodje and Leon Clark – and are desperately trying to fill the void in their attempts to avoid relegation.
They have already signed Ben Sahar from Chelsea and Enoch Showunmi from Bristol City, both on-loan, but are still light up front.
Beattie, 24, who arrived at the Hawthorns from Celtic in the summer for £1.25million, scored twice for Albion’s reserves in their 6-1 victory over Huddersfield Town last night but could not get a place on the bench for Saturday’s game against Hull City.
In 26 appearances for Albion this season – 16 as a substitute – Beattie has scored four goals.
