The recently refurbished Birmingham Town Hall has been chosen as the setting for the first of a new series of the BBC flagship political discussion show, Question Time.

The show will be filmed and broadcast on April 3, hosted by the award-winning journalist David Dimbleby. Last recorded in Birmingham over 14 months ago, the show panel is expected to feature some the country's leading politicians and political commentators.

Danielle Lloyd, Head of Production for Question Time, said '"We are all exciting about finding such a wonderful location in the centre of Birmingham."

Question Time has been broadcast since 1979 and is recorded at venues around the country with a high profile panel answering questions from a live local audience. It has become a national institution, with previous presenters Sir Robin Day and Peter Sissons covering the events of the day including the Falklands War, the recent invasion of Iraq, G8 conferences and countless general and international elections.
