The average cost of petrol for motorists has dipped just below 130p per litre for the first time in nearly three years, official Government data has revealed.

Some petrol stations in the West Midlands are still charging more than 130p, however, with prices varying by about 7p from forecourt to forecourt.

The average price of diesel is 137.47p per litre.

In five years, though, the average price has rocketed from 94.83p per litre to 129.92p, an increase of 37 per cent.
