England's women made a good start to the second npower women's Test match against Australia at New Road.

The Australians closed the first day of the fourday contest on 126 for seven, having lost the toss and been put into bat by England captain Clare Connor.

Lisa Keightley was the first wicket to go when she was run out with the score on 27, and skipper Belinda Clark followed for 18 without any addition to the scoreboard.

Karen Rolton became Katherine Brunt's second victim, with the score on 42, when she was trapped lbw for four, and Kate Blackwell was bowled for the same score by Isa Guha seven runs later.

Lisa Sthalekar (34) and Alex Blackwell (20) added four for the fifth wicket before Sthalekar fell, and 12 runs later Blackwell followed, departing lbw to economical medium pacer Jenny Gunn, whose 17 overs cost just 17 runs.

Cathryn Fitzpatrick (17) then became England's fourth lbw victim of a productive day.
