The purchasing manager of a car maintenance firm who stole £170,000 worth of equipment from his employer has been jailed for two years.
Sentencing Andrew Hibbert at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Estelle Hindley QC said: "It was a serious piece of dishonesty."
Hibbert (34), of Dormaston Drive, Selly Oak had previously admitted seven charges of theft and one of taking a car without authority.
John Brotherton, prosecuting, said Hibbert had worked for three-and-a-half years for ATS and as purchasing manager had control of his own budget.
He said matters came to light when another employee tried to obtain goods from a regular supplier and was told the ATS account had been frozen due to non-payment by the defendant.
An investigation revealed Hibbert had ordered 639 drill kits from the suppliers over a two-year period and had then sold them to people he knew for upto £100 each.
Richard Adams, defending, said at the time Hibbert had had a relationship breakdown which meant he was living in a bed and breakfast and was having to bear the financial burden of two households.
