Dear Editor, It is with great sadness that I hear of the death of Sir Bernard Lovell. Sir Bernard was a great pioneer in radio astronomy and especially in the way he could drive projects to completion.
On the several occasions I met Sir Bernard he was always supportive and helpful in my studies and in my enthusiasm to promote space science to the general public.
As one of the old school in British astronomy he retained the style and manner of a gentleman tinged with the enthusiasm of a child to understand the universe around us. His like will not be seen again and he will be greatly missed.
