Aston Villa are hoping the fact they have discovered they will play Icelandic side FH Harnarfjadar in the Uefa Cup second qualifying round is a good omen - the last time they met a team from Iceland side at this stage in a major competition they went on to win the European Cup in 1982!
Villa will entertain Harnarfjadar at Villa Park on August 9 in the first leg before travelling out to Iceland for the return fixture on August 28 and hope it will be a repeat of 26 years ago when victory over FC Valur led to their incredible victory in Rotterdam.
Manager Martin O'Neill was delighted with the news and said he hoped the supporters would do their bit to push the club's European ambitions by getting behind the team.
He said: "We were excited to be in the draw first of all as we had two tough games against Odense and we are now determined to do as well as possible.
"The fans showed they have an appetite for European football by supporting so well last weekend Odense and we are sure they will be backing us against Harnarfdjar."
