Birmingham’s longest-running girl guide group has appealed to former members to join in its centenary celebrations.
The 4th Birmingham 1st Aston Guide Company is thought to be one of the first groups to form when the guiding movement was founded in 1910.
Now company captain Margaret Griffin is planning a party with guides past and present to mark a century of the movement.
“We are quite unique because we have had an unbroken existence since 1910,” said Margaret, who has been company captain for the past 34 years.
“We want to get hold of previous guides to organise a get-together, as I’m sure that their days as a guide hold some very happy memories and a lot of good friendships came out of it.”
There are currently 68,000 members across the Midlands, who will be will also marking the centenary with a year-long programme of events.
Upcoming events will include abseiling 100ft down a tower.
