A new Asian food venture is coming nicely to the boil in Birmingham – creating over 30 jobs.

Chop and Wok was formed two years ago by entrepreneur Aman Bhandal. Starting from a single location on Suffolk Street, a second city centre outlet opened in Cannon Street followed by a branch in Sutton Coldfield.

The group now plans to open new sites in Quinton and Shirley with others to follow in Warwick, Leicester and Essex. The menu encompasses Chinese, Malay, Japanese and Indian food and is split into two sections, the Chop menu and the Wok menu.

Aman Bhandal, 26, said: “I really feel that Chop and Wok has the potential to become a popular franchise model and compete with the giants of the industry.

“The business has grown through this tough financial period and that in itself speaks volumes.”

The group’s head chef Abdul Kaium, 34, spent two years travelling around Asia researching local cuisine, recipes and ingredients, cooking with local people.
