A joint apprenticeship event took place between the National Apprenticeship Service and Skills For Logistics at Volvo UK in Warwick

Guest speakers came from Robert Wiseman Dairies and Whites Logistics and Storage.

More than 25 companies heard first-hand experiences of two apprentices from Robert Wiseman Dairies, who have both completed the advanced level apprenticeship in driving goods vehicles.

Charlotte Bloor, logistics lead for National Apprenticeship Service said: “The event showcased how two very different companies – Robert Wiseman Dairies, a large national employer, and Whites Logistics and Storage, a smaller local employer – engaged with apprenticeships, and how the training is relevant to a business, regardless of its size."

Skills For Logistics (SfL), the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industry, operates six active apprenticeship frameworks at present and over 8,000 people have embarked on these apprenticeships during 2010.

From early 2011 SfL will also be introducing a broad based Logistics Apprenticeship.
