The NFU and Herefordshire Rural Hub have raised more than £4,000 towards buying a new scanner for Hereford Hospital as part of a campaign to encourage people to eat a healthy, hearty breakfast.

The Farmhouse Breakfast Week appeal saw breakfasts in more than 60 parishes around the county served up by farming businesses for members of the public, who paid £5 per head.

More than 500 breakfasts were served up and, although money is still coming in, the current running total is £4,273.

Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust plans to put the money towards the £30,000 needed to buy a portable ultrasound scanner for the accident and emergency department at Hereford Hospital.
