Police are appealing for information about a teacher who went missing in Birmingham while on an exchange visit to Worcestershire.

Bubacarr Sanyang had come to the region on a school trip from Gambia, and had been staying in Redditch. The 31-year-old went missing last Friday during a trip to Birmingham.

He was last seen near Steelhouse Lane.

Mr Sanyang is described as black, of slim build, 5ft 7ins tall, with brown eyes, short black shaved hair, and wispy hair on his chin.

He was wearing a long off-white tunic and Nike trainers and also was carrying a black and red rucksack.

Pc Fergus Green, of West Midlands Police, said: "He was last seen in the Steelhouse Lane area of Birmingham, when he became separated from the rest of his party. He speaks good English so what happened to him is a mystery and very concerning.

"He has no relatives in Britain, although checks have been carried out in the Nottingham area, where he has friends. "His four students are all safe and well, and are very concerned about their teacher."

Mr Sanyang was due to fly home on Friday.
