Allan Lewis has ended weeks of speculation and finally agreed to become the new director of rugby at Pertemps Bees.
The former Moseley coach, who left the Reddings when the club first went into administration in 1998, has signed a contract that will keep him at Sharmans Cross Road until 2010.
Discussions will be held this evening as to whether he takes charge of this weekend’s somewhat thankless task of facing Exeter on Saturday but what is certain is that he will be at training this evening as Bees prepare for the trip to at Sandy Park.
The Bees job will be Lewis’ first in professional rugby since he left Celtic Warriors and the task will not be an easy one. He will be charged with keeping a club that is ten points adrift of safety in National One or masterminding a return to the First Division should relegation come to pass in eight games time.
Russell Earnshaw, who has been acting head coach since the sacking of Ben Harvey before Christmas, will continue his responsibility for the forwards but Lewis – a former centre with Llanelli, will take charge of the backs.
