Dear Editor, On Saturday afternoon I found, on You Tube, a five minute clip of The Voyage and I knew that I had to experience it for myself.
I arrived early in Birmingham and stood in the rain, fingers crossed, in Victorian Square, hoping against hope that the performance would go ahead.
The square filled and into the dim distance there was a sea of ever smaller faces.
And then came one of the most wonderful and memorable, immersive magical things that have ever happened to me. It was so, so good and words cannot describe the overwhelming feelings that flowed through me.
Several thousand were there but many hundreds of thousands were not and, although they will never know it, their lives were not enriched as ours were.
It was so Birmingham.
Enormous thanks to the minds that envisioned it and to those who produced and took part in it.
