A volunteer worker at a Midlands children’s hospice who is accused of looking at child porn appeared in court yesterday.

David Rollason, 52, did voluntary work at Acorns Children’s Hospice in the Midlands for between five and six years.

He has now been charged with two counts of possessing indecent images of children and appeared before Sutton Coldfield magistrates yesterday.

Rollason, of Kingsbury Road, Erdington, was remanded in custody when he first stood in the dock last week and yesterday appeared via video link from prison. His solicitor Simon Bailey applied for bail, but magistrates refused it.

They said one of the reasons was that he had to be kept in custody for his own protection.

Rollason, a company director of a printing business, is next due before magistrates on August 25.

He was arrested on July 8 during a police intelligence-led operation and was charged on July 22.
