Detectives in Staffordshire are appealing for information about a masked man who tried to abduct a nine-year-old boy as he walked to school.

The incident happened as the boy, was walking to Silkmore Primary School, in Stafford at on Wednesday morning.

A man grabbed the boy from behind as he walked along Exeter Street, and said: "You'd better come with me or else."

After a struggle, the boy, who has not been named, managed to break free and ran to the school, where the alarm was raised.

The man is described as white, of medium build and in his 20s, was wearing a black balaclava, a long black leather jacket, and dark coloured trousers.
