Work to clear the way for the construction of the new £77 million Sandwell College is ahead of schedule, officials have confirmed.

A spokesman for the college said soil remediation at the site in Spon Lane, West Bromwich, was nearing completion, paving the way for piling work to start in mid-December.

Stephen Clarke, Head of Marketing at the college, said the public should see tower cranes arriving on the site in February.

"Progress on the new campus is going extremely well, and we are ahead or on schedule with all of the work so far," he said.
