A 40-year-old woman from Birmingham is believed to be one of the victims of a double murder in Blackpool.

Police are due to question a man today in connection with the incident after the bodies of the woman and another man were found at a house in the holiday resort yesterday.

The man, aged 56, was arrested in the Wolverhampton area after the bodies were discovered and taken back to Blackpool last night.

A neighbour in Blackpool claimed the arrested man was the dead woman’s husband.

Lancashire Police, who have launched a double murder investigation, would not comment.

The bodies were discovered at a red-brick terraced house yesterday lunchtime. Last night a policewoman stood guard outside the property on Central Drive, which had Christmas decorations in the window.

Police forensic teams and scenes of crime officers were at the scene.

Neighbours said they were stunned.

A 40-year-old woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said the dead woman had young children but they did not live with her. The neighbour said the woman had celebrated her 40th birthday a few weeks ago.

She said the dead woman and her husband had moved to Blackpool a year ago from Birmingham and neither worked. The neighbour said she believed the dead man was about 70 and that he may have been a boyfriend.
