Detectives investigating the rape of an 11-year-old girl were following up a number of new leads last night as a further £20,000 reward was offered.

The Daily Sport's decision to put up the reward after the attack in Warwickshire came after Sainsbury's announced it was offering £5,000.

The victim was assaulted in a toilet at Sainsbury's on Leamington Spa's Shires Retail Park.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Pearson, leading the inquiry, said there had been a good public response following an appeal for information by the victim's mother.

The Daily Sport , owned by Birmingham City FC co-owner David Sullivan, said its reward was for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the "vicious" attacker.

A Sainsbury's spokesman said: "This was a shocking incident and we are doing all we can to assist the police."

Posters of a suspect were put on display yesterday. The posters, of an artist's impression of a distinctive jacket the male was wearing, will be shown in Leamington.

The victim was raped by a male, thought to be in his late teens, at about 7pm last Thursday. The offender is described as white, with dark brown hair and red spots on his face. He was wearing a black anorak-style hooded top with a red front and silver reflective piping.

Mr Pearson added: "I would appeal to teenagers to come forward with information if they recognise the person on the posters."

The confidential Crimestoppers number is 0800 555 111. The Incident room is on 01926 415 994.
