Performers from Cirque du Soleil helped keep Irish eyes smiling yesterday as they joined in with Birmingham's tenth annual St Patrick's Day Parade.

Anna Ostapenko, one of the artists from the successful group, helped launch proceedings with Muriel Cowen (above).

The day was enjoyed by more than 100,000 revellers who lined the streets of Digbeth to see more than 40 floats, and a handful of bands and Irish dancers.

Many people braved the chilly weather to watch a concert at Millennium Point before spending the night in the pubs of Birmingham's Irish Quarter.
