More than a third of UK entrepreneurs have turned their personal passions into successful businesses, according to data from revolutionary website-building platform Weebly.

And 90 per cent of these that Britain is a good place to start a business.

Research by the San Francisco company, which is visiting Birmingham to promote its services on Thursday (May 19), has also shown that the appetite for entrepreneurialism is popular right across the population - from teens to baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964).

In fact a growing number of baby boomers are giving up retirement and opting for a second career through setting up their own business.

And 11 per cent of 13 to 17 year-olds claim they have launched a hobby or business website.

Yet fewer than three per cent of start-ups survive for a decade as many entrepreneurs find it difficult to scale a business.

This is why Weebly – which has helped 30 million people to bring their business dreams to life online in 170 countries – is touring the UK with its Grow you own Business roadshow.

Weebly is in Birmingham, at the Old Library in the Custard Factory, from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday (May 19).

The event, led by a team of Weebly-trained experts offers attendees the opportunity to take part in Weebly masterclasses to explain how to use the Weebly platform.

They will also explain how to use some of Weebly’s key tools, including Weebly promote – an email marketing service allowing information to be managed and stored in a single platform via the Weebly digital dashboard – and the mobile app, which enables entrepreneurs to manage their business on-the-go.

Birmingham Weebly Web Wonder Gabriella Casemore, founder of Gabriella Casemore Jewellery, is joining the team to show how their services helped her business.

“Using Weebly for my website has been a really great experience,” she said.

“It is very straightforward and intuitive to use, resulting in a very professional looking site and a good user experience.

“The easy conversion of my site into a mobile site was really important too as many people only use tablets and phones to shop online. I love being able to dispatch orders from the mobile app too, it is just a shame that it can’t take them to the post office too!”
