More than 240 people have registered their interest in a small and exclusive development of just a dozen homes that are to be built in Selly Oak.

The scheme, in Lime Grove, which is to be constructed by Kendrick Homes, has only just been launched and the sales centre opened at the site.

However, so large is the number of people who have already asked for details about the detached houses that the developer is expecting the first release to be snapped up, even with prices starting at £395,000.

Located off Weoley Park Road, Lime Grove will feature 12 four and five-bedroom homes built around a private driveway .

This area is part of the Bournville Village Trust and is only three miles away from Birmingham city centre.

There are five different house types to choose from, helping to give the small scheme a feeling of individuality.

They are all designed to a high spec with accommodation across two to three floors.

A central hub to the homes is the combined kitchen/dining/family room, which is in addition to a large lounge.

Master bedrooms all come with en suites and, in some designs, there will be private bathrooms with guest bedrooms. The rest of the bedrooms will be served by a house bathroom.

The location and amenities nearby mean they should appeal to both young professionals and families alike.

There are a number of local parks and golf courses within easy reach, together with excellent schools, a college and a University of Birmingham campus.

It is also a short commute to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

All of the homes will be available with the option of the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which can aid prospective buyers who are stepping onto the housing ladder or those who simply want to move upwards on it.

Kendrick Homes’ reputation as a developer is based on 135 years of history, which it is celebrating this year.

William Kendrick originally founded the firm back in 1880. His Black Country roots and local admiration for his skilled work meant he was soon winning substantial contracts throughout the region.

He was later joined by his son, who continued to guide the company’s growth after the founder’s death at the impressive – for the times – age of 91.

Kendrick, which has its own architects, building, planning and project management staff, continues to grow and aims for further expansion over the next few years.

James Rennison, managing director at Kendrick Homes Limited, said: “Over the years our company has completed many prestigious projects including housing and industrial, hospitals, schools and municipal buildings.

“Today we are fortunate enough to have fourth and fifth generations of the first William Kendrick that continue to guide our company and I am delighted to see that our founder’s principles of quality craftsmanship continue to be demonstrated in the work of Kendrick Homes today.”
