Statistics revealed that three of the most expensive homes sold in the Birmingham area since the start of the year have been located in Solihull.

According to the Land Registry, a house in Widney Manor Road went for £1,464,000, while one in Alderbrook Road sold for £1,095,000.

The third, which was in Warwick Road, went for just under a million pounds at £955,000.

Further kudos for Solihull has come in the form of the uSwitch Quality of Life index, which in 2013 named it as the best place to live in the United Kingdom.

The borough combines the best of town and country; with a busy and popular centre, good schools and leisure facilities, while being next to the rolling fields of Warwickshire and its wealth of historic landmarks

If you are tempted by a move to Solihull, there is plenty to offer buyers, even those without a million pounds to spend.

An open day being held at this house in Leverton Gate on Saturday, April 18, from 12-2pm , when potential buyers can see what’s on offer between £600,000 to £700,000.

This five-bedroom detached home is situated in a private, gated development, in the desirable B91 postcode, just minutes away from Touchwood shopping centre with its boutique outlets, restaurants and John Lewis department store.

It is also close to some of Solihull’s best known schools – Solihull School, St Martin’s, and the award winning Ruckleigh, as well as a number of top performing state schools including Tudor Grange.

Both the Robin Hood and Olton golf clubs are around the corner from the property.

The house has a block paved driveway that leads to not one but two garages.

Inside there is a hallway with access to a guest cloakroom and toilet.

It has doors to the formal dining room at the front of the house which has a bay window overlooking the garden.

At the back there is an L-shaped sitting room with fireplace and doors outside. Next to this is the kitchen/breakfast room. This has fitted units to three sides with one set of base units creating a natural division between the kitchen and breakfast areas.

This latter part of the room also has double doors to the garden.

Next to a kitchen, a utility makes a useful laundry room.

On the first floor, the landing leads to five bedrooms, four of them with built-in wardrobes.

The master suite has a dressing area and an en suite shower room. The guest bedroom also has an en suite shower room.

A family bathroom is complete with bath, separate shower, basin, toilet and bidet.

There is potential to convert the loft space (subject to planning permission). Outside, the back garden has a patio area but is mostly laid to lawn.
