Newly completed apartments at Skyline have been scoring well in the city popularity stakes, say agents.

The 259 apartments built by Barratt in Granville Street have been selling and letting well, proving a winning formula of location, design – and affordability.

Selling agents Knight Frank and letting agency Centrick Property report that young professionals have been voting with their feet – and heading for Skyline.

Despite a tough market for residential property, more than 100 of the apartments have been sold in just over a year, said Joanne Clarke of Knight Frank this week.

“Skyline has proved to not just be a great addition to the landscape around The Mailbox, but also a fashionable place to live.”

The apartments, designed by Stirling Prize nominees, Glenn Howells Architects, are also close to Brindleyplace, New Street Station and the Bullring.

Prices start at £121,250 with further discounts available on certain plots, a further incentive for both owner occupiers and investors.

Carina Hill of Centrick reports that there have been no shortage of takers for rental homes in this central location, monthly rents between £550 and £750.

“These prices rival many other top quality city centre schemes and offer tenants a lot more for their money, however it is also a good return for landlords.”

The two bedroom designs have been popular with typical sharers, thans to the provision of two bathrooms.

Also, many of the properties have balconies with views of the courtyard, Bath Row or the Peace Gardens.

Carina added: “Outside space is something that is hard to find in the city had has proved a real hit with tenants looking for something extra.”

A two bedroom layout is currently available at £98,700 under a discounted scheme, available for city workers.

Single occupiers who earn under £25,000 are eligible as are couples earning under £40,000 between them.
