An automotive wholesaler and retailer has expanded its West Midlands operations with the acquisition of a Staffordshire company.

Birmingham-based Mr Tyre has bought NTSB Group in an undisclosed deal which sees it move into the north of the region.

Mr Tyre was established in 1971 in Sutton Coldfield and now operates from a 100,000 sq ft head office and distribution warehouse in the city's Jewellery Quarter alongside more than 30 fitting centres across the Midlands including in Coventry, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

NSTB Group was founded in 1972 and is an independent tyre dealer and vehicle maintenance company operating from three bases in Newcastle, Tunstall and Longton, branded as North Staffs Tyre and Battery Autocentres and covering the Stoke-on-Trent area.

The deal was managed by Berkshire-based M&A advisor BCMS whom NSTB approached to find a potential purchaser for the company and manage sale negotiations.

During the process, it profiled 181 potential suitors and received significant interest from 40.

Vickie Hood, who led the deal for BCMS, said: "Interest in this highly reputable, multi-site business was keen as companies in the automotive sector seek to expand their footprint.

"The fact our client has multiple operational sites was key to its appeal as a business."
