Secrtor: Food

Freshway Chilled Foods, the Wolverhampton-based food manufacturer has announced that it will cease trading, with 200 jobs lost.

The parent company, food manufacturer Tulip, decided to close the company after Freshway failed to win a new contract to keep supplying sandwiches to The Foodservice Centre.

It will continue to supply sandwiches until the contract with The Foodservice Centre ends in June.

A Tulip spokesman said there was a possibility of redeployment of employees into alternative permanent roles at other Tulip sites.
