Yardley MP Jess Phillips has demanded a new law to unmask trolls after getting 600 rape threats in ONE night.
The Labour MP called for a new law to remove anonymity from the people who abuse her on a daily basis.
Ms Phillips said Parliament needs to act, telling the Cheltenham Science Festival: "In one night I received 600 rape threats.
"It was probably more, but I stopped counting.
"To try and subvert that, I received thousands of comments from people saying 'I wouldn't even rape her'."
She first revealed last summer that she had received 600 messages about rape in a night.
But she stepped up her calls over the weekend - as Tory ministers and Theresa May agreed there is a need to take action.
The MP, a staunch campaigner of women’s rights, is regularly featured on TV shows and newspaper columns for her forthright and sometimes controversial views.
Ms Phillips said she wanted to see changes which would mean that account holders would have to disclose their real identity to Facebook and Twitter, even though they could still post messages anonymously, reports the Mirror.
That would mean they could be identified if they break laws, such as those on malicious communications or harassment.
Ms Phillips said she the police had issued harassment orders against two individuals for "constantly emailing me with bile and abuse".
She said: "I personally have come to the viewpoint that I don't think people should be allowed to be completely anonymous online anymore.
"I don't mind if people appear anonymous online for all sorts of really reasonable reasons."
Ms Phillips has also revealed she experiences regular attempts to hack into her emails.
She receives notifications of an attempt to access her emails “monthly at least”.
The Labour MP said: “It happens all the time”.
And Ms Phillips, Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley, said she believed the attempts were politically motivated.
“They are presumably trying to find things that would embarrass me,” she said.
The attempts to access her emails involve a Gmail account which is used by the MP during election campaigns, when MPs are barred from using their official Parliamentary emails.
Ms Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley, receives notifications from Google informing her that it has blocked somebody from accessing the account, with details of where the attempt appears to have been made.
Some hacking attempts have come from Pakistan in the past. The latest one, which she posted about on Twitter, was from the Ukraine.
Ms Phillips said she had changed her password but to no effect. She said: “I forward it always to Parliamentary security, which I assumes goes to the security services. But I don’t ever get any feedback.”
“The account they’re trying to hack isn’t one I use much. It’s the one that goes on my leaflets and my Twitter for the period of the election.
“So I don’t know what they are looking for. I don’t even access it.
“I do think it’s politically motivated.
“They can’t think I’m conducting private affairs on there. They’re not after my bank details.
“If they did get access, they’d mainly find things about bins.”
She also suffered a cyber-attack during the 2017 general election which was apparently designed to prevent her using her email account.
“During the election I had quite a bad cyber-attack. That account was spammed to the point where I was getting a thousand things a minute, like sign ups to newsletters, so it completely blocked me out and stopped my constituents talking to me.”
