The finishing touches are being placed to the first John Lewis sign at the new Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham.

The four-storey shop will be the anchor tenant of the £150 million shopping hub which will open next September as part of the wider redevelopment of New Street station.

It is the company's second major department store in the West Midlands, alongside its outlet in Solihull, while Grand Central is expected to create in the region of 1,000 jobs.

A series of new tenants for Grand Central have been announced in recent weeks including Blott, Handmade Burger Company and Fat Face among many others.

The opening of the John Lewis features as one 15 key events taking place in Birmingham during 2015.
