Birmingham’s Colmore Business Improvement District (BID) has gained the support of top councillors in its drive to be granted a second five-year term.
The application for a new term, beginning next April, has been outlined to members of Birmingham City Council Cabinet.
The Colmore BID was established in April 2009 following a ballot result of over 87 per cent of businesses in favour, and by next April over £3.5 million will have been invested in the area following its work.
Coun Tahir Ali, cabinet member for development, jobs and skills, said: “The achievements of the Colmore BID over the last five years underline just how successful the BIDs model has been in Birmingham. I look forward to its continued success.”
Extensive consultation among business is now taking place for the Colmore BID2 proposal. A ballot is likely to take place later this year to decide on its future.
