One the biggest holiday parks in Wales has been acquired.

John Fowler Holidays has bought Llanrhidian Holiday Park.

The value of the deal for the park, on the Gower Peninsula has not been disclosed. The Devon-based holiday park group now operates 12 parks throughout Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Wales.

The park has 400 privately-owned caravans and lodges and employs 35 employees. There is currently no letting fleet.

However, John Fowler Holidays intends to add a letting fleet over the coming years which is anticipated to attract a significant number of visitors to the area each year.

Llanrhidian Holiday Park was previously owned by the Richards family for more than 27 years.

John Fowler Holidays managing director, Martyn Fowler said: “We feel very privileged to now be able to offer holidays in this particularly beautiful part of Wales.

"It has been a pleasure to work with a family with a similar ethos to ours during this process and we are looking forward to continuing their excellent work as we take the park forward.”

Ollie Fowler head of development for the group, said: “We intend to add further parks in exceptional locations in the future but it will be hard to beat the beauty of the Gower Peninsular.”

This latest acquisition will make the John Fowler group one of the largest privately-owned holiday park groups in the UK.

John Fowler sales director Cathie Higgs said: “Over the past few years we have seen record growth in demand for UK holidays, particularly for luxury accommodation. Expanding into Wales was a natural progression for us in offering outstanding locations for holidays.”
