Plymouth-based industrial cleaning firm New Wave Marine has formed a "partnership” with a major biogas company to work on tank cleaning projects across the UK.

The family-run NWM has linked up with BioConstruct NewEnergy Ltd, which has bases in London and Middlesbrough, to clean out its anaerobic digestion facilities.

NWM specialise in marine cleaning, decontamination, industrial cleaning, waste management, drainage, and confined space rescue services.

BioConstruct GmbH was formed in Germany in 2000 to become a leader in the construction and operation of anaerobic digestion, otherwise known as AD or biogas, plants.

During the past 15 years it has built and successfully commissioned more than 300 AD plants, as well as a number of wind and solar projects.

Darren Negus, NWM’s commercial operations manager, said: “Together, the two companies are looking to deliver a full turn-key solution for clients who have the need to fully empty and clean out their digesters and storage tanks.

“The new partnership with BioConstruct NewEnergy Ltd, which is an industry leading O&M (operation and maintenance) provider within the UK's anaerobic digestion sector, and we’re very excited to be working with them.”

Danny Husband, senior manager at BioConstruct NewEnergy Ltd, said: “We are very pleased to be offering this collaborative venture with NWM that will visit sites, and discuss the sequence of works and methods of disposal for our clients.

“BioConstruct NewEnergy Ltd, will attend UK sites and complete all specialised works to open the tank roof and make it technically ready for the clean out teams from NWM. And once completed, BioConstruct NewEnegy Ltd will reassemble tanks and get it ready to go back into operation.”

NWM is also celebrating achieving Gold Membership with Constructionline, a construction industry register for consultants and contractors, that gives its UK customers enhanced assurance about the safety, quality of services, and especially NWM’s drainage operations, and environmental and management standards.

During the 2020 coronavirus lockdown period NWM took on five extra staff in dual working roles for its drainage and confined space rescue teams.

The new appointments were in response to the large volumes of contracts the firm is delivering with clients across the South West and UK

Commercial manager Andy Aldred said: “We are one of Britain’s fastest independent family companies, and our drainage operations is a strategic part of our services across the UK going forward.”
