An exciting challenge has been thrown down to the city's professionals who want to make the difference.
The next Thrive! Forum is inviting people to understand how they might transform Birmingham with a little imaginative and some collective action.
And, to ensure the ideas start flowing, the keynote speaker is the inspirational Eugenie Harvey – director of the world wide movement, We Are What We Do and the publisher of two remarkable books that contain 100 simple everyday actions that everyone can easily fulfil.
The forum on Thursday, February 15th, from 6pm is being hosted by Eversheds law firm, a leading advocate of corporate social responsibility and a regular on the Thrive! page published each Tuesday in The Birmingham Post.
This forum is being organised in conjunction with Birmingham Forward and The Institute of Directors.
Marc Reeves, Editor of The Birmingham Post, said: "Eugenie is certainly expected to give us plenty of food for thought as to what we might be able to achieve in Birmingham if we can get together, start the ball rolling and initiate a domino effect.
"Through working together we should be able to ensure that individuals and businesses are not simply talking about what should be done but enabling us to make the difference to lives in Birmingham."
Birmingham Forward is delighted to be involved with its partners, the Thrive! Forum and the IOD, to bring this unique and fascinating event to Birmingham that will look at numerous little actions members of the city's professional and financial services sector can do that collectively can make a real and significant difference to improving the environment and our general well being.
Eugenie in her first book, Change the World for a Fiver she explained and revealed the ideas behind the movement.
Her second book Change the World Nine to Five, that will be introduced at the event will concentrate on 50 simple actions business people can do through the working day that will help make the world a better and happier place.
Richard Brennan, chief executive of Birmingham Forward, believes the event can change the way people think about the world around them and how they can contribute to its improvement.
"This will be an inspiring event. Eugenie will introduce in her presentation very simple, easily achievable actions that we can all do during a working day – which collectively can make a significant contribution to the world around us.
"Indeed we know that employers, often in response to employee requests, are looking for innovative ways in which all their staff can contribute positively to the big and demanding issues confronting the planet. So this event will be as much for the employer as will for the employee.
"It so easy to think I can't do anything individually to improve the environment or the general well being of the planet
"Eugenie's philosophy is that everyone can make a small effort and in doing so together we can make a big difference."
The event will cost #20 plus VAT (#23.50 + VAT) per person. Any surplus on the event will be donated to WAWWD. An early response is advised to avoid disappointment.
