A workshop to help Midlands companies take advantage of a multi-billion pound order bonanza in Saudi Arabia is being staged.
The Saudi government has identified a huge range infrastructure and welfare projects to be carried out up to 2020. Now an advisory think-tank is being held by UK Trade & Investment at the National Metalforming Centre in West Bromwich today. The Kingdom's booming economy is being driven by high oil prices.
Membership of the World Trade Organisation recently swept aside many of the remaining obstacles to foreign firms doing business in Saudi Arabia.
Nick McInnes, UK Trade & Investment's director for Middle East and Africa, said: "Vast amounts of money will be spent on doubling the power supply, education and training, new schools, universities, healthcare and other regional infrastructure build. UK companies can play an important role and will do well for themselves by engaging early with this huge market. Our workshop, led by experts in the field, has been tailored to give companies an understanding of the Saudi marketplace."
