A Midland mutual has donated £500 to support research into breast cancer.
Staff at the Great Barr branch of the West Brom presented the gift to Breast Cancer Campaign during a visit to Birmingham University to see the charity’s research in action.
Scientific fellow Dr Padma-Sheela Jayaraman is looking at how breast cancer cells grow and spread and hopes to provide knowledge for the development of new treatments.
Helen Maresca, volunteer for Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “More than 4,000 people in the West Midlands are diagnosed with breast cancer every year which has a major impact on them and their families.
“Breast Cancer Campaign is making huge strides in the fight against the disease through pioneering research projects that have the potential to save and improve lives.”
