A Midlands businessman has spread his passion for his hometown club across the globe after creating a home for them almost 7,000 miles away, in Asia.

Despite years of travelling the globe with the Army, one thing that has remained constant for Coventry-born Colin Chamberlain is his passion for his home city’s football team.

The Sky Blues fanatic is now based in Singapore where he has established the island city-state’s first official Coventry City themed bar, called Turnstyles Sports Bar.

The football club has helped to fit out the bar by sending over a selection of memorabilia as well as issuing the venue with an official supporters bar certificate.

Mr Chamberlain said: “English football is fanatically supported out here and in the local bars and shops you see the full range of English football strips worn by every age and race.

“All the national newspapers cover English football to the same depth and passion as you would find in any city anywhere in the UK.

“We are desperately proud to be the home for city fans in Asia, the bar has some great City memorabilia on the walls, and any fan that comes in wearing their city shirt can be assured of a very warm welcome.”
