The growing trend for outdoor dining has kept things sunny for one Staffordshire manufacturer.

Veranda Living, which specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of steel and glass verandas is seeing rapid growth from a boom in alfresco eating, and now plans to take on more people to cope with demand.

Jon Miller, the founder of the Lichfield firm, said he believed verandas meant people could indulge their passion for the outdoors without having to give up if the weather turned sour. And last year’s heavy rainfall brought a flood of orders from people wanting to enjoy their gardens without letting wet weather spoil plans for entertaining.

Veranda Living has just sold its 120th installation and the family business is looking forward to expanding its three-strong team with the help of Business Link West Midlands.

Orders came in from all over the country after the firm exhibited at the Gardeners’ World show held at Birmingham’s NEC and the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park last summer, as well as advertising extensively in gardening magazines.

Mr Miller said: "Verandas blur the boundary between home and garden and they can really transform everyday living."

Each veranda is made individually to the customer’s needs, and Jon has built up a portfolio of designs showcased on his website www.veranda-living.co.uk.
