Birmingham-based parcels and logistics company UK Mail has helped to raise money for a young cancer sufferer by adding £1,000 to the funds raised by an employee.

The company followes in the footsteps of customer service agent Patricia Evans, who organised a fun day at a local community centre and raised more than £1,800 for the Kelli Smith Appeal.

She has been raising money for her three-year-old niece Kelli, who was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer at three months old.

After months of enduring several rounds of gruelling chemotherapy and major surgeries Kelli was given the all clear.

Unfortunately her remission was short lived and seven months later scans confirmed three new lesions in her abdomen.

There is no treatment protocol in the UK for relapsed neuroblastoma but there are treatments available abroad which could cost in excess of £500,000 if needed.
