The information technology arm at one of the West Midlands biggest employers is in line for top honours as a result of its performance when it comes to giving young people a flying start in the workplace.
The UK-based IT section of TNT Express – the global express and mail delivery service company – has been short listed for the National Council for Work Experience’s annual Awards.
In the lead up to the final, to be held in March, all shortlisted organisations will be visited by a team of judges to select who should go forward to the awards presentation where the outright winners will be announced.
Working from its global IT headquarters in Atherstone, Warwickshire, TNT is one of eight organisations shortlisted in the ‘250+ employees for long-term placements’ category.
It will be competing against Accenture, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Shell International Ltd., PA Consulting Group, Balfour Beatty, Microsoft and Intel.
Launched in 2003, the awards recognise, encourage and reward employers who take the lead in the provision of valuable opportunities for students and set high standards for others to follow, offering fulfilling work placements and helping students develop employability skills.
Sponsored by Shell, Centrica, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR), the awards span ten categories and NCWE has shortlisted up to eight organisations for each from well over 200 entries.
