Titan Europe, the international maker of wheels for offroad vehicles headquartered in Cookley, is moving into Turkey, investing £3 million through its Italian off-shoot in a joint venture with the Turkish Jantsa to make wheels for farm tractors.
This is intended to supply up to 300,000 wheels a year to a Turkish factory of Case New Holland and other tractor makers in eastern Europe and former Soviet countries.
"We saw this as an opportunity to supply an important customer and it puts us a lot nearer to other customers in the area," said Vincent Wicks, Titan Europe's finance director.
"We have bought between us a site adjacent to the Jantsa factory. We have got our Italians on this supervising it."
The new factory should start work in the second half of next year.
Mike Akers, Titan Europe's chief executive, commented: "The joint venture will give us the ability to manufacture cost effectively, whilst retaining our competitiveness in the European market and increasing the flexibility of our product mix."
