Accompanied by Viennese dancers in full-ball costume and masks, British Airways pilot Martin Reeve did "The Anniversary Waltz" around Birmingham's Victoria Square to mark the first birthday of the airline's flights from Birmingham International Airport to Vienna, Lyon and Nice.

During the year, the routes have generated more than 50,000 passengers.

British Airways began serving the three destinations direct from Birmingham in May last year, just days after the collapse of duo, the fledgling airline that had previously flown the routes.

Flights to Vienna operate daily, with fares from £139 return. Lyon flights are twice daily with return fares from £116 and Nice is served weekly on Saturdays throughout the summer season, with fares from £109.
