A Midland law firm is looking to build on its success after the way it operates helped it scoop a major regional award.

Specialist business and family law practice Woolley & Co, which has bases in Birmingham and Warwickshire as well as across the wider East and West Midlands, landed the regional Best Use of Teleworking title in the ECommerce Awards organised by the DTI.

The awards recognise and reward innovation in the application of information technologies to improve the business performance of SMEs in the UK and Woolley & Co was commended for responding to customers faster due to lawyers working more flexibly.

Woolley & Co breaks the mould of how traditional law firms operate by providing 'virtual' legal services for clients via the internet and has already established a solid reputation in business and family law.

Its solicitors work away from traditional city centre locations and communicate with clients predominantly by email and over the phone to save valuable administrative time. They also visit clients at their premises or homes where necessary to take services directly to them.

Senior partner Andrew Woolley said he was delighted with the award which he hoped would provide the platform for future business growth.

He added: "The flexible way in which we operate is different from most legal practices and we are delighted to have earned this award in recognition of that. It proves that our business model works to benefit clients and we can now build on this success.

"We already have solicitors based throughout the Midlands and with further developments on the horizon such as expanding our team and extending the use of web based technology the future is looking very positive indeed."
